There seems to be a difficulty organizing a design coarse that is theoretical as well as having a design practice as basis. The Mahku successfully combines these two elements. There are focused classes on both theory and the design practice separately, as well as classes and the exam work combining both. The strength of the Mahku is combining the two, this consequently creates the biggest challenge for the student: Coming up with new concepts surrounding the theoretical background to your design area and giving them body through personal design creations.

In my opinion, maHKU provides an excellent balance between theory and practice.
